Sports Stories With Bik: Everyone has an Impact
For the third episode of Sports Stories with Bik, my co-host Kwab and I sat down with our good friend Ky Parrott to share his sports story. Ky is a standout baseball athlete, coach and educator who devotes his time to mentor the youth.
Ky was born into sports. Both of his parents were student-athletes at James Madison University and the Williamsburg, Va native played football, baseball, and basketball growing up.
“Sports as a whole was a big part of my family [and] a big part of my personality” he said.
Ky’s father started taking him to the batting cages when he was 12. Despite picking up the sport at a relatively late age, Ky used this time to work hard and take his game to greater heights.
During high school, Ky performed well in front of MLB scouts and received First Team All District and Second Team All Region honors. Ky was set on playing college ball for JMU, so when the Milwaukee Brewers came calling on prom night, he had a decision to make.
Ky eventually decided to follow his parents’ footsteps and take his talents to Harrisonburg. Ky enjoyed a successful stint at JMU, where he broke school records and was named First Team All-State and First Team All-Conference.
Despite missing out on a potential career in the big leagues, Ky rekindled his love for baseball through coaching. He realizes how blessed he is to have learned so much about baseball, the sport that made him be the kind-hearted person he is today.
He now uses that experience to repay the grace.

Ky’s has an extraordinary story to tell. Sports have the power to connect people from all walks of life, and his ability to separate the person from the athlete deserves recognition.
