Sports Stories: Everyone has an Impact

For the third episode of Sports Stories with Bik, my co-host Kwab and I sat down with our good friend Ky Parrott to share his sports story. Ky is a standout baseball athlete, coach, and educator who devotes his time mentoring the youth.

Ky was born into sports. The Williamsburg, Va native played football, baseball, and basketball growing up, and both his parents were student-athletes at James Madison University.

Ky’s father started taking him to the batting cages when he was 12. Despite picking up the sport at a relatively late age, Ky used this time to work hard and take his game to greater heights.

Repaying the grace

Ky received First Team All-District and Second Team All-Region honors in high school and performed well in front of MLB scouts. The Milwaukee Brewers came calling on prom night, but his heart was set on playing college ball for JMU.

After following his parents’ footsteps, Ky enjoyed a successful stint in Harrisonburg, where he broke a couple of school records and was named First Team All-State and First Team All-Conference.

Despite missing out on a potential career in the big leagues, Ky rekindled his love for baseball through coaching. He realizes how blessed he is to have learned so much about baseball, and he now uses that experience to repay the grace.

Coach Ky won’t let up

Ky’s ability to separate the person from the athlete deserves recognition. Enjoy the full video of his inspiring story below.
